Heather Marx is a community-minded arts professional with over 25 years experience curating, promoting, and exhibiting visual and digital art by emerging, mid-career and established U.S. and international artists. Marx has extensive experience working closely with museums, nonprofits, government, and community groups and has curated and produced 150+ exhibitions with over 200 artists, including at least a dozen thematic shows, several of which earned national media coverage. Marx has also managed and produced 30+ public and private art commissions. Marx founded and ran Heather Marx Gallery (later named Marx & Zavattero), a leading contemporary gallery in San Francisco for 13 years.
Founded in 2013,HMxAA is a full-service art advisory serving private clients and institutions. Projects range from the acquisition of multiple pieces to augment a home collection to developing large collections for 900,000+ sq ft of office and public space spanning multiple buildings. HMxAA manages all aspects of art procurement including fabrication (for commissions), shipping, framing, installation, project management and conservation. In addition, Marx regularly curates exhibitions for organizations and develops corporate art programs. HMxAA serves individuals and corporations in tech, VC, law, finance, philanthropy, and/or entrepreneurial ventures.
Heather Marx has a BA and MA in Art History from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Marx is a member of the Association of Professional Art Advisors (APAA), the only accrediting body for the industry in the United States. Working with an APAA art advisor ensures that while you are exploring the vast and complex world of fine art, you will be given advice from an impartial, experienced professional who, as your advocate, works only on your behalf.
